Timeless Luxury - The Lodge at Torrey Pines
By: Kym Whitney
One of my favorite places for a weekend visit is the idyllic Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. The property is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and I had the treat of visiting this summer. I was quickly reminded of just how majestic it is there. The resort sits among rugged cliffs overlooking the world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course and the Pacific Ocean in the distance. It appeals to golfers, couples, families, and nature lovers.
The Lodge has received the prestigious AAA Five Diamond award every year since 2002. The hotel's reputation for excellent service beings upon arrival when welcomed by the Scottish kilted doormen and is consistently provided throughout all areas of the property.
The 170-room luxury resort embodies the 1900s California Craftsman style with its woodsy ambiance. From the large fireplace in the main lobby lounge to the rooms adorned with "Stickley-style" furniture, fabrics, and leathers., and the cozy bar and sitting areas in the signature A.R. Valentien restaurant.
