Great Neighbor - One Ford Road’s Marmar Salimian Sikka

By: Amanda Hunstman

Marmar is a beloved member of our community who has a big heart for charitable organizations supporting mothers and children. She is one of the kindest people you will ever meet.

Marmar and her husband, Samir, have lived in Newport Beach since they married in 2010. First, living in Newport Coast for eight years and Newport Beach for the past five years. They moved to One Ford Road because it is very family-friendly and is centrally located to everything in Newport Beach.

As a mom, she felt strongly that One Ford Road was the right community for her kids and family. ‘There’s a strong sense of community. Neighbors look out for each other, and it has a wholesome, safe midwestern vibe. The board and event committee do a great job planning family-friendly events; even the pups have their own party!! We love living here!”

Marmar and her husband have two children, Anya (10) & Arya (8). Her husband is a Portfolio Manager at an institutional investment firm. Anya plays tennis, swimming, tumbling, and volleyball. Arya plays tennis, basketball, swimming, and flag football.

They feel lucky to live in an area with many great activities and opportunities for the kids. For example, last summer, her daughter participated in the Newport Beach Junior Guard program, and her son did several surf camps, and they both had a blast!

Marmar was raised by her single mom, which fostered a place in her heart for helping others, specifically women and children.

When her kids were young, she joined the Newport Coast Mom’s Club and helped execute a few successful fundraisers. She felt a fire and drive to continue on this path.

A few years later, a friend in her new community introduced her to 360° Miracle, a giving circle for a fantastic organization called Miracles for Kids. It’s then that she became a circle leader. Miracles for Kids helps families with critically-ill children who are struggling financially. They provide financial aid, food, clothing, and shelter - so they can focus on the care their child needs.

“I spoke to a few friends about 360° Miracle, and they also joined. We organized a few fun events over the past years to foster awareness and to raise money. The last event was held at the Newport Beach Country Club, and we raised over $70,000. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our community and friends who gave their time and generously donated to this fantastic organization.”

Miracles for Kids organizes events throughout the year that allow the whole family to participate and interact with the beautiful families that Miracles for Kids serve.

“I realize the importance of teaching gratitude, empathy, and kindness to our children. One way to give back is to try to do it hands-on so they can see the impact of their actions.”

Marmar and her family also support CHOC Hospital, CASA, and NCL at annual events. These organizations do so much to help our community, and they are honored to be a part of them.

We are so thankful for great neighbors like the Sikka family, who donate their time and love to strengthen our community and provide a better life for those in need.
