Brayden Baderian: Empowering Local Youth Through Golf and Service One Swing at a Time

By: Amanda Huntsman

Brayden Baderian, a bright young local from Ensign Middle School, epitomizes the spirit of empowerment and service through his involvement with The First Tee of Orange County. At just his age, Brayden is already leaving an indelible mark as a volunteer golf coach, inspiring peers and community members alike with his dedication, enthusiasm, and unwavering commitment to fostering positive change.

Brayden's journey with The First Tee began with a profound love for the game of golf and a desire to share its transformative power with others. Volunteering at one of the 50+ classes offered by The First Tee throughout the year, Brayden serves as a junior coach, assisting in imparting crucial life skills and values to young participants.

Guided by The First Tee's core commitments—respect, responsibility, honesty, sportsmanship, and judgment—Brayden mentors children attending these classes, helping them build the strength of character to navigate life's challenges. Through seamless golf and life skills curriculum integration, Brayden ensures that every participant experiences growth, self-confidence, and resilience that extend far beyond the golf course.

Brayden's passion for sports and service shines through every aspect of his life. From his early days as a Cub Scout to his active participation in team sports, Brayden has always embraced opportunities to learn, grow, and give back to his community. Whether excelling in baseball, participating in the National Junior Honors Society, or attending youth group at Grace Church, Brayden's commitment to excellence and service is evident in all his endeavors.

At the age of 12, Brayden embarked on a memorable journey to Cooperstown, New York—a monumental accomplishment in his baseball career. The tournament marked a significant milestone, offering Brayden and his team an incredible travel experience and the opportunity to compete nationally. It was a chance for Brayden to explore a new part of the country and interact with boys from various states, broadening his horizons on and off the field. Currently, Brayden is a member of the Anchors, a feeder team for Newport Harbor High School, where his passion for baseball continues to thrive.

Golf holds a special place in Brayden's heart, serving as more than just a recreational activity—it's a family affair. Brayden's journey with the First Tee began with familial inspiration, as he learned about the organization from his father and grandfather. Robert Baderian, Brayden's grandfather, holds a special place in the First Tee as a founding member of the First Tee - Greater Pasadena area, where he currently serves as the executive director with 18 years of involvement. Similarly, Brayden's father, Ryan Baderian, played a pivotal role as a founding executive board member of the First Tee of Orange County, dedicating 8 years of service to the organization. With a deep-rooted love for golf and a family legacy of involvement, Brayden naturally gravitated towards finding ways to contribute to the First Tee's mission. Brayden has learned patience, composure, and perseverance, which he now imparts to young minds as a volunteer coach with The First Tee.

The impact of Brayden's service extends far beyond the confines of the golf course. Through The First Tee's commitment to inclusivity and community engagement, Brayden and his fellow volunteers are shaping the next generation of socially responsible individuals. By providing young people from diverse backgrounds access to golf and its inherent life lessons, The First Tee ensures that every participant has the opportunity to thrive and succeed, regardless of socioeconomic status.

Looking ahead, Brayden's journey with The First Tee inspires hope and optimism for a brighter future. Brayden's dedication to service and empowerment remains unwavering as he prepares to transition to Newport Harbor High School.

In Brayden Baderian, we find a shining example of the transformative power of sports and service. Through his involvement with The First Tee, Brayden is shaping young participants' lives and leaving a lasting legacy of empowerment, inclusivity, and social responsibility.  As he continues to inspire others with his passion and dedication, Brayden stands as a symbol for a brighter, more compassionate future—one swing at a time.
