Happy March, Neighbors!

I don’t know about you, but when I think of March, I think of all things Spring! So, for a spring time read, I wanted to introduce you to the fabulous Collab that is Meet Me In Monaco by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb. I’m sure you can tell by the picture, but my copy of this book is well worn, and well read! I loan it out to everyone!

This historical fiction book will transport you into the glamorous days of Grace Kelly, giving you all the 1950’s era vibes in Cannes, as well as the extraordinary lavender fields of France’s countryside. I can still smell the fresh blooms, perfume scents, and feel the flash of the paparazzi’s photographs as I think about this book. I’m begging you to read it!

And that’s where we begin! Cannes, France, for the film festival. Sophie Duval is minding her own business while working in her family’s perfume shop, until she gets the surprise of a lifetime when none other than the Grace Kelly walks in to avoid the relentless pursuit of the paparazzi. As Grace seeks privacy, Sophie’s kindness sparks an unlikely friendship between the two women that span over the course of the next thirty years.

Meanwhile, the paparazzi in question is British press photographer, James Henderson, who is set to photograph and cover the first meeting between Grace Kelly and the Prince of Monaco, Prince Rainier. Nothing seems to come of the meeting, and James’ boss asks him to come back home and quit the story. That is until the official engagement announcement comes that sends the world into a tizzy and sends James on assignment once again. Back in France, James attempts to befriend Sophie. Throughout their encounters, Sophie sees a different side to the man whose story is so intriguing that Sophie feels drawn to him in more ways than one.

Meanwhile, Grace Kelly loves Sophie’s perfumes so much that she asks Sophie to create a new scent specifically for her on her wedding day with Prince Rainier, with whom James is covering the story. Sophie now finds herself as a worldwide household name and the attention that comes with it. Still grieving the loss of her father, she wonders what he would think of his daughter, who is propelled into the spotlight, as is her family’s shop. She finds herself in a new and unknown world of celebrities, reporters, and a potential whirlwind romance with the press photographer that she once scolded and kicked out of her shop months earlier.

Love and memories are intrinsically woven into this book, and there are so many delightful details about French perfume that will make you want to inhale the pages. Mix all this with the backdrop of a royal wedding, strong female characters, a gripping romance, and a storyline dripping with elegance, and Meet Me In Monaco is a true page-turner!

Are you intrigued yet? This book is for all those who adore stories about the choices we make for love, the lovers of romance, the enchanted stories about the legendary Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier, and the life and times of the star-studded world of vintage Hollywood in the 50s. I guarantee that you will not want to put this book down, as it truly takes you on a heartfelt journey.

Now’s the time to put a fresh vase of flowers on your coffee table, grab a drink, put your feet up, and enjoy.

Happy reading!
