Newport Beach is home to some of the most pristine beaches in California. With 10 miles of coastline, there is something for just about anyone; sunbathing, surfing, swimming, body surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, boating, jet skiing, fishing, beach volleyball, and more. Locals and tourists alike visit the area year-round to enjoy the endless activities available.

1) Newport Municipal Beach: The beach itself is a long, wide stretch of sand with great surf and many opportunities for beach activities. It is located on both sides of the Newport Beach Pier. There is also a long strand along the beach for walking, jogging, and biking. Newport Municipal Beach is the busiest in the area and is also home to the famous surf spot known as The Wedge, located at 2172 East Ocean Front. People flock to this area not only for outdoor activities, but also because there are endless restaurants, bars, and shops to enjoy as well.

2) Crystal Cove State Beach: This beach offers a pristine natural setting with a 3.2-mile stretch of sand and rocky tide pools to explore. Ideal for long strolls. There are three distinct beach areas below the bluffs, which includes Reef Point, Pelican Point, and Los Trancos. The historic district of refurbished cottages from the 1930s is set midway along this expansive beach. These adorable beachfront cottages can be rented, but reservations are hard to come by. A stop at the on-site Beachcomber Cafe for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or cocktails is a must. Crystal Cove has no shortage of outdoor activities. There is a 1,140-acre underwater park for snorkelers and scuba divers, 18 miles of hiking and biking trails at El Moro in Chaparral Canyon, and overnight campsites.

Enjoy views of the boats coming in and out of the harbor and the infamous Wedge known for its epic surfing. There is also a secret spot called Pirate’s Cove, located to the north of the parking lot. A hidden little cove offering seclusion from the hustle and bustle of the main beach. Visitors will find updated showers, restaurants, and the highly-rated Tackle Box snack shack. You can pay to park in the parking lot for easy access to the beach or for those who don’t mind a little bit of a workout, and free parking is available in the neighborhood above along Ocean Boulevard.
