Traveling this summer? Don’t forget to protect your eyes while you explore new destinations! Here are some essential tips from eyeXam to keep your vision clear and healthy on your adventures:

Wear Sunglasses: Shield your eyes from harmful UV rays with sunglasses that offer 100% UV protection. Polarized lenses can also reduce glare, making your sightseeing even more enjoyable!

Stay Hydrated: Dehydration can lead to dry eyes. Drink plenty of water to keep your eyes and body hydrated, especially in hot climates.

Pack Eye Drops: Traveling can dry out your eyes, especially on airplanes. Carry lubricating eye drops to keep your eyes moist and comfortable.

Avoid Rubbing Your Eyes: Dust, pollen, and other irritants can make your eyes itchy. To avoid infections, use a clean cloth or tissues instead of your hands.

Take Breaks from Screens: Whether you’re using your phone, tablet, or laptop, give your eyes a rest by following the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

Wear Eye Protection: If you’re swimming, wear goggles to protect your eyes from chlorine and saltwater, which can cause irritation and dryness.

Schedule an Eye Exam: Before you go, ensure your vision prescription is current.

Schedule an appointment with eyeXam to ensure your eyes are in top shape for your travels!
