Fall Fashion Staples and How to Style Them

As the autumn air rolls into the OC, it’s time to transition your wardrobe to embrace the rich textures and cozy layers of fall. In this month’s column, I’m sharing how to style some of my favorite fall fashion staples that will keep you looking chic and feeling warm this season. Whether you’re looking for the perfect jacket or want to experiment with bold prints and warm tones, I’ve got you covered!

1. The Classic Suede Jacket

There’s nothing quite like a timeless suede jacket to elevate your fall wardrobe. A moto or bomber-style jacket is versatile, effortlessly chic and perfect for layering. I love pairing mine with a chunky knit sweater and a pair of skinny jeans for a laid-back yet polished look. Opt for earthy tones like tan, camel, olive, or rust—colors that complement the natural beauty of fall and bring a cozy, inviting feel to your outfits.

For a casual day out, try wearing your suede jacket with a pair of corduroys or distressed jeans and ankle boots. And don’t forget to layer up with scarves to add a little extra texture. Trust me, it’s the ultimate fall outfit that exudes both comfort and style.

2. Chocolate Brown: The Rich Neutral
Chocolate brown is one of my go-to colors for fall. It’s warm, earthy, and pairs beautifully with other autumnal hues like rust, mustard, burgundy and forest green. But for a softer, more delicate contrast, try pairing chocolate brown with cream or blush tones—it’s a combination that feels effortlessly elegant.

To keep things interesting, mix up your textures. Pair a brown suede or leather jacket with a light wool sweater, or style a sleek brown dress with a wool coat for added warmth. Velvet, silk, or chunky knits also pair beautifully with brown, creating a luxurious, layered look that’s perfect for cooler days. Don’t be afraid to play with contrasting colors and materials to add dimension to your outfit!

3. Burgundy: The Luxe Fall Color

Burgundy is the ultimate fall color that adds instant sophistication to any outfit. I love pairing burgundy with neutral tones like cream, beige, camel, or black—it’s a striking combination that always looks chic. When it comes to fabrics, think velvet, suede, or silk—these materials bring out the richness of burgundy and add depth to your ensemble.

One of my favorite fall looks is a burgundy velvet dress layered with an oversized wool coat or a cozy knit sweater. Not only does it keep you warm, but it also brings a touch of luxury to your everyday wardrobe. Whether you’re going for a casual vibe or dressing up for an evening out, burgundy is a must-have for your fall collection.

4. Leopard Print: Bold Yet Balanced

Leopard print may be bold, but when styled right, it’s a timeless fall staple that can be both elegant and fun. The key to wearing leopard print is to balance it with neutral, solid colors. Think black, camel, tan, olive, or even burgundy—these tones will anchor the print and make it feel more refined.

For an effortlessly chic fall look, try pairing a leopard print blouse with black skinny jeans and a tan wool coat. You can also mix textures by layering your leopard print with suede, knits, or leather to create a cozy, autumnal vibe. Remember, keeping the rest of your outfit neutral will allow the print to pop without overwhelming your look.

Fall fashion is all about layering, mixing textures, and embracing warm, earthy tones that reflect the beauty of the season. So, go ahead—have fun with your style and let these autumn essentials inspire your next look! As always, feel free to reach out to me with any questions or to chat @everythingevelyne on Instagram.
