Luckeymom’s Confections: Happiness You Can Eat

By: Bethany Myers

Luckeymom’s Confections, founded by Jennifer Luckey, is a confectionery business that has quickly become a beloved staple in the community. What started as a passion project during the early days of the pandemic has evolved into a bustling business, offering a delicious assortment of unique treats and confections.

The journey of Luckeymom’s Confections began when Jennifer's three children returned home to keep her company when the 2020 pandemic occurred. Looking for ways to spread joy and comfort, Jennifer’s obvious move was to share her love for baking and chocolate with those around her. It all started with a single hot cocoa bomb. This fun dessert is made by creating a hollow chocolate sphere and filling with dry hot chocolate mix and marshmallows. It was an immediate sensation with her children, and the community quickly caught on. Jennifer began expanding her creations by serving up a diverse selection of custom chocolate treats and sugar cookies.

Luckeymom’s Confections prides itself on its ability to cater to a variety of events and celebrations within the community. Whether it's a wedding, a birthday party, a corporate gathering, or a memorial, Jennifer’s dessert company can create the perfect treat for you (and your budget!) Their dedication to customer satisfaction and their willingness to work with any budget sets them apart from other similar businesses in the area. In addition, their new on-site hot waffle wand cart or custom logo sugar cookies will elevate any event.

What truly distinguishes Luckeymom’s Confections is their commitment to using high-quality products. In addition, the business has embraced the community’s evolving dietary needs, offering gluten-free treats and vegan options. “If you can dream it, we can create it,” says Jennifer.

Philosophy of the Business:

The philosophy of Luckeymom’s Confections can be summed up by the famous quote, "If you love what you do, you will never work another day in your life." Creating confections alongside such fun-loving team members feels more like spending time with close friends and family than anything else, and that’s the goal at Luckeymom’s Confections.

Biggest Inspiration:

As Jennifer reflects on the journey that led to the establishment of Luckeymom’s, she credits her biggest inspiration to her mother—a remarkable homemaker, mother of seven children, and a loving presence in her life. Her mother's talent and ability to create delicious treats from scratch, is what Jennifer admires most and promises to continue on with her own children, leaving a lasting legacy.

Success and Milestones:

“I feel like having the courage to start a business during a pandemic, the scariest and most unpredictable time of many of our lives, is a success in itself. The fact that we have been able to maintain and grow our offerings as a cottage bakery/confectionery and events vendor is another success,” says Jennifer.

Luckeymom’s Confections has created treats for nonprofits, large corporations, and just recently, their personalized sugar cookies have flown first class to celebrate the birthdays of Jason and Bret Oppenenheim of The Oppenheim Group in Paris. In July the company created over 300 custom sugar cookies for Oceana’s Sea Change Summer Party, each personalized with their event’s branding.

Giving Back:

The success of Luckeymom’s Confections can be measured not only by the satisfied, returning customers but also from their generosity, donating 150  custom sugar cookies in collaboration with Newport Coast Moms for the VIP gift bags for OC Fashion Week.
