Meet CDMHS 2023 Graduate and Diver, Chloe Bohuslavizki
By: Kym Whitney
Recent 2023 Corona del Mar High School graduate Chloe Bohuslavizki has much to look forward to. After years of hard work, academically and athletically, she is headed to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas this fall on an athletic scholarship.
Bohuslavizki looks forward to being on an incredible diving team for a Division 1 athletic program. She had official visits to various universities, but the supportive and positive environment created by the coaches and team at UNLV hooked her. Now, she can't wait to be a part of it all.
Before becoming a diver, she was a gymnast for many years and loved the sport but had to work through many injuries that limited her ability to pursue it long-term. Then, she heard that diving was a good segway sport from gymnastics because of their similar acrobatic moves, so she tried out at a local club at the age of 13 and never looked back. Bohuslavizki competes on the 1 and 3-meter springboards.
Looking back on her diving career so far, Bohuslavizki says her relationships with her teammates are what she values most. They compete individually but support each other as if combining their scores. " I had a great time traveling for meets with my teammates and getting to compete at different pools. I have so many close friendships that I've made with my teammates along the way that will be life-long friends."
An interesting aspect many people don't realize about being a high school diver is that technically participants are a part of the swim and dive team but don't train with their school. Instead, they train with their dive club during the week and compete at high school meets. Bohuslavizki was a part of the Coast Divers Club out of Costa Mesa. She attended CDMHS and had one other teammate that was a diver. They only put on their high school diving suit a few times per season and have the swim/dive coach sign off on their lists. Other than that, they didn't train at school, which is unique. Through four years in high school, she qualified for 2 CIF championship meets and competed in 3 Regional championship meets.
Bohuslavizki attributes her success to having the Mamba Mentality. The late Kobe Bryant inspires her to compete at the highest level. "He worked harder than everyone else, giving him an edge that inspires me to work hard to accomplish my goals. I learned a lot about his work ethic in his book, Mamba Mentality, and saw how it led to his success on the court. That is what motivates me to do the same with diving."
Bohuslavizki was born and raised n Orange County. She has three sisters and one brother. She is the second youngest of her siblings. She was raised in Irvine but moved to Newport Beach in 2021 and transferred to Corona del Mar High School. Bohuslavizki stays very busy by training four to five times weekly and working at a coffee shop in Corona del Mar. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends, going to the beach, and spending time with her family. Her parents are her best friends, so she values being at home with them, listening to music, or relaxing by the pool. She also attends Mariner's Church regularly.
We wish Chloe Bohuslavizki all the best as she heads to UNLV this fall!
